Citizen Education
The LWV promotes citizen participation by providing non-partisan, objective information on governmental issues and elections in several ways:
- Candidate forums
- Voters guide
- Community forums on timely topics: March 22, 2011 - Getting the Best Teachers in our Classrooms: A Conversation on Evaluating Teacher Effectiveness. Recent forums included our Conference on Ensuring an Independent and Diverse State Judiciary and a Water Issues Forum. See our Charleston League Calendar for info on upcoming forums.
- Observer Corps' reports
Voter Registration
One of the primary focuses of the League is promoting political participation by facilitating voter registration.
Would you like to help register new voters?
1) Hold your own voter registration drive using our Vote 2011 registration toolkit!
2) We are always in need of volunteers to assist with our voter registration drives. To volunteer to help with voter registration, please email us. Joan Dehne and Evelyn & Earl Dolven are our Voters Service coordinators.
Last spring, LWVCA's Voters Services volunteers registered 463 students in five high schools in Berkeley County - Join the Action!
See some frequently asked questions about voter registration. For more information on how to register to vote or who's running for office, see our Elections page.
